Delaware State Forest is an area of unique scenic, historical, geological or ecological value, maintained in a relatively undisturbed manner where natural succession will be allowed to occur. Please see each Area listing for general location within Pike County.

The Delaware State Forest is situated in the heart of the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania and it derives its name from the Delaware River that drains the entire area. The Delaware State Forest totals 81,642 acres in Pike, Monroe and Northampton Counties, with the majority of the acreage in Pike County.

Delaware State Forest Lost Camp Trail (Eastern Access)
It is about 4 miles up the mountain on Cummins Hill Road off Routes 6 & 209 between Milford and Matamoras to the parking. The trail runs 2 miles over to Firetower Road (#10, 11). General location is within the Upper Delaware Region.

State Forest Land Lost Camp Trail (Western Access)
About a mile down the road from Yellow Pine is the first of two accesses to Lost Camp Trail. It runs 2 miles over to its eastern access on Cummins Hill Road. General location is within the Upper Delaware Region.

Stairway Lake Trail Stairway Lake Trail
A short way further on Cummins Hill Road from Lost Camp on the left is the Stairway Lake Trail parking lot. Follow the trail leading into the woods to Slateston Road (may be unmarked) and bear left to Stairway, a deep-woods dammed lake. Note the vista nearby.
