Decker Pond Trails

About a mile eastbound on Rt. 6 from the intersection
with 507 at the Tafton Dike is a left-hand entrance into the Decker Pond area of
State Gameland #183(look for rifle range sign). A short ride on a light duty road,
brings you to a small parking area. From here the trail heads up Buckhorn Mountain,
forking left and right for about a mile to Bear Run Road on the ridgeline. These
trails can also be reached from the first parking area on Kimbles Road off Rt. 6…
The ‘fourth’ parking area down Kimbles(about 2 miles) takes you on an extended
hike on the back side of Buckhorn…Back up Rt. 6 from the Decker Pond entrance
a short way is a parking area on the opposite side of the road which begins a 2 ½
hike deadending near Cattail Swamp.
