From the end of the parking lot, head out through the pines to a meadow and a rocky area above where the Craft Brook makes a turn to meet the Sawkill. Off to the left, you will see an old woods road which follows the brook then loops around to Schocopee Road. You are now in the Milford Experimental Forest and on the Pinchot Trail (#7) coming from Grey Towers. The trail in this area is in a natural state with a lot of stepovers. If you lose the trail, just keep going as it will reappear. It’s a good test of your trail observation skills. When you get out to Schocopee, it’s a short, uphill walk back to the Park.
