From the main parking entrance, a short way up Rt. 6, is the entry road to the interior of the gamelands(known
as Farms Road, but not marked). It runs 3 miles up the west side of Shohola Lake,
accessing two boat launches and numerous trails:
Willis Hill…This is the first trail you come to and is on the left(look for parking
+ sign to Observation Tower). The tract is something of a maze; keep to your
right to reach tower which these days has its vista partially obscured by the tops
of growing trees, but still is a good landmark for an interesting hike through thick
lakeside bush.
Horseshoe…Farther along Farms Road(past the second boat launch on the left)
about a mile and a half, this trail is roughly a mile circuit through an upland
area.
Mile Brook…Another mile and a half on Farms brings you to the intersecting
Mile Brook Tr. To the left, it goes a short way down to the lake; to the right,
it is a 3 mile hike past a wetland across Farms Trail(#57) to a point near the
upper reaches of Sawkill Creek. The full circuit of Mile Brook, Farms Tr.,
and Farms Road is about 5 miles.
Neuweiller…At the end of Farms Road just past where it meets Farms Tr.(park-
ing area), begins this trail which works around the back side of the second
Propagation Area on Shohola Lake, about 1 ½ miles.
